Christian Dual Diagnosis Program

Christian dual diagnosis program treats people who are suffering from a psychological condition such as depression and anxiety, they turn to drugs or alcohol to help them cope with it.  This is called self-treatment or self-medication.  In the world of Christian dual diagnosis treatment centers, it is known as a dual diagnosis.  A dual diagnosis program is designed to help you recover from both of these issues simultaneously, because recovering from the mental issues will not automatically solve the substance abuse issues, and resolving the substance abuse issues will not automatically remedy the mental health issues.  New Creation Treatment’s Christian dual diagnosis treatment centers address both issues simultaneously in order to best prevent them from recurring.

  • Dual diagnosis situations are not rare, in fact, they are relatively common.
  • Co-occurring disorders like this can occur in many different shapes and forms.
  • These situations can be difficult to treat without the right help.
  • Integrated treatment is often the best choice because it offers everything you need under the same roof for a complete treatment process.
  • Dual diagnosis treatment will take longer for you to complete rather than treatment for a single problem.
  • A good program for your dual diagnosis treatment is going to move at your own pace, one at which you feel comfortable.

Dual Diagnoses in Their Many Forms

Dual Diagnosis is also known as a co-occurring disorder, and it refers to any situation where someone is dealing with a mental health condition and an addiction at the same time.  The mental health condition can be anything from depression to anxiety, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, and the addiction can be anything from alcohol to drugs, sex or even gambling, used as a mechanism for coping with the mental health condition.  In some circumstances, there are multiple mental health conditions to deal with, such as depression coupled with anxiety.  For other people, there is more than one addiction to deal with, such as an illegal drug coupled with alcoholism.
Dual Diagnosis Statistics

Here are some statistics that should help you better understand what dual diagnosis is all about:

  • According to the National Association of Mental Illness, or NAMI, as many as 37% of people with alcoholism also have a serious mental illness.
  • NAMI also says that as much as 53% of individuals with drug addictions also have a serious mental illness.

What these statistics tell us is that it is quite common for individuals to be fighting serious mental illness and serious substance abuse issues at the same time.  While there’s a chicken and egg problem and it’s hard to tell which causes which, what is clear is that there are a lot of women who are struggling with both types of serious issue and looking for the right kind of help.  This type of help is available in the form of a women’s dual diagnosis treatment program.  A dual diagnosis treatment program can be available both as an inpatient program and an outpatient program, and many actually are offered as a hybrid of the two, meaning that patients begin in a full-time inpatient program and then transition into a part-time outpatient program when they feel well enough to return to their everyday lives, family, friends and other loved ones.  It is important not to transition back to your life until you feel completely confident, though, because too much stress can cause relapse.

Christian Dual Diagnosis Program Recovery

The Christian dual diagnosis program at our New Creation dual diagnosis treatment facility is designed to deal with your specific needs.  We know that you are dealing with more than just one addiction or illness and that these can often have profound challenges for your life.  To treat one issue without treating the other will likely lead to short-term success, but not long-term success.  We want to make sure that we address both issues and how they feed into each other.  We realize that there is more for you to deal with than just one issue.

Our facility team is well trained in how to find out your specific triggers for all of your issues and to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs.  We know that not all treatment plans fit every person.  Learning more about how one hurdle can turn into many with multiple issues is essential to your success.  You don’t have to settle for treating only one problem at a time.  We understand that many of the problems develop because of the crossover between addictions or illnesses.

The first step in getting your life back is contacting our staff. We will work with you to learn more about your issues and how we can best help you to address them. Reaching out is going to be the starting point to overcoming your road blocks and learning more about the pitfalls that you could be facing. You can get the help you need for multiple issues all in one place and while treating their interaction with each other.
